Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre

Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre is grateful to accept donations of wood and tools, wool and cottons, knitting needles and buttons, books and electric goods. We have PAT trained volunteers who are able to test any electric donation as being safe for use and for resale, so please bring them to us rather than throw them out in the rubbish.

We also serve as the collection point for old spectacles, batteries, stamps, and mobile phones, passing these on to other charities to make good use of them. The old jewellery that we collect goes to the Soroptimists who sell it to raise funds to finance clean water projects in Africa.

Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre can make good use of your old and unwanted tools.

We refurbish, rehandle and recondition donated tools, and sell them back to the community at affordable prices.

Some tools are sent through the "Tools for Self Reliance (Cymru)" project to help make communities in Tanzania self-sustainable.

We can also repair, sharpen and rehandle tools that you wish to keep!

Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre runs the Ystrad Wood Store, a community social enterprise project that depends upon donations of wood to remain viable.

We continually need any good-quality offcuts or excess, as well as lower quality wood to turn into kindling which is sold at a low cost to the community.

We would like to thank all our regular donors, and ask for many more please!

Electrical Items

Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre has PAT-trained testers who can test and approve electrical donations. Once tested, these items are then made available for resale to the public at an affordable price.

Call into the Volunteer Centre if you would like further information, or are looking to buy something.

Please note - we will no longer be taking analogue televisions as there is no market for them.

For computers and computer equipment, the YVC has a reciprocal arrangement with NSA PC Care of New Sandfields, Port Talbot, who will be happy to advise on making a donation to them

Wool, cottons, needles etc

Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre is the Wool Store for the town and district.

In order to continue to fulfill this function, we keenly need donations of wool - any type, any colour please!

We also welcome donations of knitting needles, knitting patterns and crochet hooks, all of which we are pleased to stock for the local community.

Thank you in anticipation

Books etc

Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre is pleased to accept donations of books and DVDs.

Books in the categories of mystery, crime, science fiction, and non-fiction historical are always welcome.

Sometimes we may have to turn away potential donations of romances, social history etc as our shelves become full, but we can always take donations in small numbers.

What We Collect for Other Organisations

Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre takes donations of spectacles, used batteries, mobile phones and stamps, all of which we hold in trust for other charities who come and collect them from us on a regular basis.

So, if you have any - please donate!
