Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre is an unincorporated charity with a management committee formed around trustees and members. The trustees are the legal employers of the staff of the YVC, and are responsible for decisions on the running of the centre.
The Volunteer Centre has staff consisting of a manager and a recycling manager, as well as a co-ordinator for the Healthcare Project, and a number of short-term staff including a receptionist/administrator for the YVC building.
At the core of the Volunteer Centre are, of course, the volunteers, those who give their time and energy to help the community through the various projects that the centre runs.
As agreed at the Annual General Meeting of Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre, in October 2012, the Trustees for the 2012-2013, after resignations, are:-
The core staff of Ystragynlais Volunteer Centre are:-
Other staff are sometimes employed on a temporary basis, and may be found either in an Admin role within the Volunteer Centre, or working with the wood and tools at Antur Ystradgynlais.
Volunteers are at the heart of Volunteer Centre business. Some you will see in the centre itself, manning the reception desk, or helping with organisation and admin tasks. Others are out in the community, befriending elderly people, volunteer driving, perhaps assisting with the Nailcutting Service.
Many volunteers work in the Tools and Wood recycling project, whether rehandling old tools, cleaning them up or sharpening those brought in, on the one hand, or chopping timber, making birdhouses, reconditioning furniture, or helping to construct a chicken coop on the other.
If you or someone you know would like to become a volunteer, you can either fill in our Contact Form, email the YVC at email@example.com, telephone us on 01639 849192 or come into the Volunteer Centre at 16 Station Rd, Ystradgynlais for a chat.
