Mobility Scooter Hire
Ystradgynlais Volunteer Centre has two mobility scooters available for hire under the Scootabout scheme. Anyone who wishes to use one must sign up, for an annual fee of £5, and pay £1 per session, which is anywhere up to half a day.
The YVC also hires out wheelchairs, and occasional other mobility aids. Wheelchair hire is on the same terms as for that of a scooter. If you wish to hire any, please either telephone the Volunteer Centre on 01639 849192 or come in and talk to a member of staff.
The scooters are regularly and professionally maintained and over the last year have had their batteries and tyres replaced with new ones.
Scooters can do up to 12 miles on a single battery charge and offer the following advantages:-
- They offer independence
- Increased mobility
- Easier access to local amenities
- No maintenance is required from the client
